Frequently Asked Questions for FETTE AUTOS (2002_11_25) RULE QUESTIONS ################################################################# ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION The hazard sign "downhill" and the hazard sign "uphill" always appear together on a tempo card. Does this mean, that I have to choose the orientation of the tempo card when putting it down on the table in order to earn two chips for it? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER No. If you have such a card open in front of you you will always earn two chips for it, if the current track shows a "downhill" *or* "uphill" hazard sign. The same applies to the "wind from the left" and "wind from the right". If you have a windbag on your tempo card (regardless of direction) you'll get two chips. NOTE: I wanted to make it easier for the players to compare their hazard signs with the hazard sign of the current track card. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION My car was overtaken by an opponent. May I attack him in the same phase? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER No. A car which fails to overtake an opponent or is overtaken by an opponent is out of the phase for the current track and has to wait for the next track card. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION While attacking another car, a player takes chips in his hand secretely and simultaneously with his opponent. Does this player have to pay these chips even if loosing the duel? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER Yes. Both player have to pay all chips they put in their hands. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION In "Phase 3: Attack" a car starting on position 7 attacks the next car. What happens, if this car happens to be an Alter Hase ("old pro")? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER If the next car (on position 6) belongs to a player, the Alter Hase will attack in the normal way. His speed is determined by two or three cards respectively and if the Alter Hase is faster than the car in front of him, he will pass the player's car. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION I am driving in a curve with a speed limit of 70 km/h. I am driving at 100 km/h. I pay three chips to avoid a "full brake". What speed counts when attacking the next car? Must I pay chips again to attack? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER For attacking only the sum of the three open cards is used (100 km/h). This speed may be increased by paying chips in the poker phase. As long as the player does not modify his open cards he does not have to check again against the speed limit. But - if the player overtakes successfully and *wants* to attack again, he has to slow down a bit - if he chooses this option, he is modifying his open cards and will have to consider the speed limit again (by paying chips if driving to fast). EXAMPLE: In a curve track with speed limit 90 A (position 7) drives at 120 km/h B (position 6) drives at 120 km/h C (position 5) drives at 120 km/h ... * PHASE 1: warning sign (order is ..., C, B, A): * PHASE 2: maneuvering (order is ..., C, B, A) – speed limit is 90 C decelerates to 90 km/h, pays no chips B decelerates to 110 km/h, pays 2 chips A accelerates to 130 km/h, pays 4 chips * PHASE 3: attack (order is A, B, C, …) – speed limit is 90 A versus B: A pays 1 chip, B pays 2 chips result is : A (140 = 130 + 10) passes B (130 = 110 + 20) A decelerates to 100 km/h, pays 1 chip A so earns the right to attack C A versus C: A pays 2 chips, C pays 3 chips result is : A (120 = 100 + 20) is blocked by C (120 = 90 + 30) C attacks next car … ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION I have overtaken a car successfully. Why do I have to get slower now to attack another car? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER This is an abstract rule to simulate the energy used up by overtaking a car. Note that you'll have to consider the speed limit each time you are modifying your three open cards in any way. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION I have overtaken a car successfully. I would like to attack another car now, but my hand cards do not allow me to slow down my car. What now? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER In this case you simply have to stop attacking. The car in front of you is the next one to attack - you just stay at your position. Note that you don't have to get slower after overtaking a car. This is only a prerequisite to attack *another* car. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? QUESTION Will an Alter Hase (try to) overtake several cars in one attack phase? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANSWER No. An Alter Hase will overtake a maximum of one car in Phase 3: Attack.
